Villa D'Uvale is a holiday house located in the village of Alijó, in the heart of the Alto Douro wine region.
We prioritise comfort, safety and quality and we want you to feel at home.
We have a privileged location to discover the stunning region that is UNESCO World Heritage, as well as the incredible Vale do Tua Natural Park.
Villa D'Uvale is the result of a recent rehabilitation where we put all our commitment, work and affection to provide our guests with an experience that will remain in their memories.
The decoration is full of character and history, where modernity meets the old, giving it a unique identity.

A Villa D'Uvale has a total of 5 double rooms:
- 2 bedrooms with double bed and private bathroom (en-suite)
- 1 bedroom with bunk bed with private bathroom next door
- 2 double rooms with shared bathroom
Our guests will find a bright and comfortable living/dining room with access to an inviting and relaxing terrace.
There is also a fully equipped kitchen inside the villa and another one in the pool area that our guests can use to prepare their meals.
Outside, a pleasant swimming pool with sun loungers, umbrellas, lawn and a barbecue invite you to enjoy the sunniest days!
Our guests also have at their disposal a practical kitchen on the annex close to the barbecue, here they will find the ideal conditions to enjoy their meals "al fresco".
Among the various facilities at Villa D'Uvale, we offer central heating, free WiFi internet connection, fiber TV with 125 channels in all rooms and a living room with smart TV.
With an excellent location in the village of Alijó, close to restaurants and leisure facilities, but in a quiet area, Villa D'Uvale allows you to enjoy a few days in privacy, safety and comfort, whether as a family or with a group of friends.

At Villa D'Uvale, from the property's rehabilitation to its current operation, we are concerned with using natural resources rationally and contributing to the preservation, recovery and enhancement of the region's natural environment and culture, thus helping the survival of future generations.
THERMAL INSULATION
In the house's rehabilitation for the thermal insulation of the exterior walls, we chose an ecological, sustainable, recyclable and natural material - Cork.
WATER HEATING
The heating of the water in the house is done using thermal solar panels.
CENTRAL HEATING
The house is heated using a biomass boiler (pellets), with a superior energy efficiency class.
LIGHTING
The lighting is made with LED systems, which are totally sustainable.
WATER
We encourage our guests to make rational use of this precious resource, water.
Furthermore, our showers and faucets are water efficient.
SOLAR SHOWER
To support our seasonal pool we have a solar shower that heats the water through the sun, an ecological solution.
EFFICIENT FRAMEWORK
The windows and doors are energy efficient, bearing the Greenline seal. They are made of recyclable PVC, double glazing with an oscillating-stop opening and excellent thermal insulation.
HOME APPLIANCES
Most of the appliances in the house have maximum energy efficiency (class A+ or higher).
RECYCLING
We recycle and encourage recycling at Villa D'Uvale through the placement of recycling drop-off containers.
TOILETRIES
Our toiletries are presented in dispensers, made in Portugal, refillable and recyclable, thus reducing the impact of plastic on the environment.

OUR HISTORY
The house built in the 60s of the last century, a decade that was marked by the transformation of thoughts, rupture with old values, the creation of new artistic as well as constructive movements, was built by the great-grandfather and grandparents of the two sisters behind the Villa D'Uvale project.
The architecture stood out at the time and was a reference in Alijó, it was named "Vivenda S. José" in allusion to José Lopes Júnior, the great-grandfather, an essential person in the realization of this project. The villa was for a long time usual residence of the family, who returned from Africa after decolonization, and was shelter for four generations until the end of the 20th century.
From then on, due to circumstances of life, the family left the village, and the house started to be visited very sporadically (holiday home) and was gradually showing some signs of degradation.
About 20 years later, and observing the tourist growth that the Douro had been showing, as well as the good childhood memories of the house and region, the two sisters saw potential in the property.
They decided to move forward with the rehabilitation of the villa, with the aim of creating a tourist accommodation that would offer a memorable experience to guests and make them feel at home - Villa D'Uvale .
That's how they start the work with the collaboration of some family and friends :) !
From the house's heritage, there were several pieces of furniture and decoration that were carefully restored and integrated into the new decoration, thus preserving part of the house's history, never neglecting its original features.
Vintage lamps, Nordic-inspired furniture in fine woods, an antique sewing machine, an antique telephone or radio, cross with the current contemporaneity where modern comfort and amenities are present.
Villa D'Uvale: an allusion to the richness of the region that comes from a close connection between two words - “Uva” (grape), the most valuable fruit of the Douro and basis for the renowned wines of excellence and “Vale” (Valley) of Douro, landscape unique of incalculable beauty.
The accommodation is closely linked to a farm - Quinta da Carvalheira - which can be reached from Villa D'Uvale via a short walk (about 7min). The approximately 40,000 m2 located in the high zone of Alijó, on a slope and plateau of schist soils, comprise white Galician muscat vineyards, but also fruit trees such as apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, fig-trees, and cherry trees.
From the top of Quinta da Carvalheira, you can observe a beautiful landscape within a radius of about 360º, and from here it is possible to go hiking or biking. During the harvest season, our guests can have the opportunity to participate in the experience and taste the delicious Moscatel grapes. The grapes from the property then are taken to Adega de Favaios, one of the most prestigious wineries in Portugal, for the production of the famous "Moscatel de Favaios".

You will find in the bathrooms free toiletries of high quality and made in Portugal.
BEDDING
Our rooms have white percale bed linen of high quality, made in Portugal, that will provide the best comfort for your sleep.
HAIRDRYER
In the bathrooms you will find an indispensable hairdryer.
HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING
The house has central heating during the colder months. In the summer, the house has air conditioning so that our guests always feel comfortable.
TOWELS
We provide our guests with white towels, 100% cotton, high quality and made in Portugal.
EQUIPPED KITCHEN
Guests who want to prepare their own meals have fully equipped kitchens at their disposal (villa and annex).
FREE BABY EQUIPMENT
Subject to availability: high chair, travel cot, bathtub, ladder protection.
DISHWASHER
For the convenience of our guests and to save water, we have a dishwasher in the kicthens of the villa and annex.
PARKING AREA
There is a free parking area at the villa, subject to availability.
